Movement Fundamentals: The Beast 🦍

The Beast is a quadruped (on all fours) based movement that involves the pelvis, abdominals, obliques, quads, trunk stabilization, and diaphragm. It is by far one of my favorite core movements that can be implemented anywhere and everywhere! Add it in your warm up, in between sets, as one of your main exercises, and I promise it’s better than a plank!

With any client, this is a great foundational movement as it teaches you how to brace your trunk, all while keeping your pelvis engaged. Similar to a plank, however many people tend to mess the plank up, back arches, incorrect weight distribution, or it gets too easy. In any case this is a great movement for anyone rehabbing from an injury, or learning better coordination.

📝 Some tips:

-start in a quadruped position

-stay within your shoulders and hips

-keep your pelvis slightly tucked in, engaging your abdominals

-as you go into your hold, KEEP your pelvis squared

-breath in through your nose, and exhale out your mouth
